Laʻiʻōpua 2020

Partner

Located in the “piko” of the Kealakehe Ahupuʻa, Laʻiʻōpua 2020 (L2020) brings together its Kona community for collaboration, inspiration and knowledge sharing. It envisions a vital West Hawai`i Community where local families lead the way.

The mission of L2020 is to provide social, recreational, vocational, economic, educational and cultural opportunities and infrastructure to the communities of the Kealakehe Ahupuaʻa. It is a place for pilina and puʻuhonua.

Incorporated as a 501c3 in March 2006, Laʻiʻōpua 2020’s complex is situated adjacent to the neighborhoods of Laʻiʻōpua, on a portion of the 52.6 acres it leases from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands. The 4,543-square-foot community center complex, completed in 2018, includes a 603-square-foot commercial kitchen, a 481-square foot conference room, office spaces, a 1,347-square-foot multi-use space and a 1,026-square-foot open air pavilion. It is a hub for co-working, and educational, cultural, and workforce development programs to benefit DHHL homesteaders and beneficiaries, native Hawaiians and the surrounding communities.
