Our Partners Print

Hau`oli Mau Loa Foundation currently provides funding to nonprofit organizations that fall into five program areas: Environment, First Generation Partners, Hope for Kids, Housing Projects and Humanitarian Relief.

ENVIRONMENT

The Foundation's mission includes promoting stewardship, preservation and protection of the natural environment. As a way of carrying out this mission internationally, we are making a grant to Global Greengrants Fund, an organization that makes small grants to grassroots groups in developing regions around the globe for conservation efforts. For the environmental grantmaking we will carry out in Hawai`i, we are currently exploring two areas that we hope to develop into long-term grantmaking strategies:

  • Invasive Species Prevention; and
  • Environmental Career Pathways to Conservation Careers for Hawai`i Youth

FIRST GENERATION

Hau‘oli Mau Loa Foundation has funding relationships with six different organizations in Hawai‘i. The length of our relationship with these organizations varies from more than ten years to just a few years. The relationships were all established during the period before the Foundation was fully funded. Each of these partner organizations contributes, in very different ways, to the Foundation’s mission.

HOPE FOR KIDS

Hau`oli Mau Loa Foundation established Hope for Kids to expand opportunities for children to build hope and a positive future. The initiative provides multi-year funding to, initially, nine nonprofit partners in Hawai`i who are working with children in programs that promote resiliency, develop life skills and instill a sense of environmental stewardship.

HOUSING PROJECTS

Building on the success of Hau`oli Mau Loa Village, an affordable housing community on Kaua`i, conceived of and funded by the Foundation, we plan to collaborate with the same partners on a second self-help housing project.

HUMANITARIAN RELIEF

We provide funding for humanitarian relief in response to natural and other emergencies and disasters, especially where other resources to respond are limited.
