OUR LOGO![]() Hau`oli Mau Loa Foundation’s logo, the lehua makanoe blossom, has significant meaning because it creates a link to our founder, Helga Glaesel-Hollenback. On her 75th birthday, community members from the island of Kaua`i gave Helga the Hawaiian name of Kalehuamakanoe, meaning “the lehua blossom in the mountain mist,” in recognition of her concern for Kauai's children. Renowned in Hawaiian chants and songs, the lehua blossom is a flower of beauty, elegance and resplendence. This particular variety, lehua makanoe, is only found on Kaua`i in the uplands of Kōke`e, a place very special in the heart of Helga.
